Podcast - 10 tips for loading a new mindset

Podcast - 10 tips for loading a new mindset

I grew up in a period when floppy disks were used to load images and programs onto your computer. So today, I want to use that analogy of loading floppy disks into the computer. I want to equate that to loading a different mindset into your mind.

I've always been a little bit of a people watcher; when I was younger, I would go to social events and just sit there and watch people in the room for a few minutes. It would always astound me how much I could tell about somebody even before speaking to them, just by watching their body language.

Every day I'm reminded of my mindset. I engage with people around me or on social media. Today I want to share ten quick tips on strengthening your mindset. And give you great insights into the people around you by loading that floppy disc with a new mindset. Listen to to the full podcast below.

Number one: Be aware of your thoughts.

When thoughts of jealousy, lack, negativity, or fear arise, just stop.  Stop and breathe and try to figure out why those thoughts came into your head in the first place and how you can turn them into thoughts of support, abundance, and positivity.

I'll give you an example; jealousy is an easy one to talk about.

Your buddy bought a new house or car. Instead of being jealous and saying, “why couldn't, I buy a new car?” or  “why couldn't I buy a new house?”

Instead, reach out in a supportive manner with congratulation. The good karma will flow back to you over time.

People will be just as supportive when you accomplish your goals one day.

Then there is the thought of lack. So many people have a scarcity mindset, and they're always thinking about, “I can't do this” or “I can't do that.” Change the thought pattern to say, Hey, how much do I have in my life today?

How much do I have to be grateful for?

I think that we are all extremely abundant today. I think you are pretty abundant today listening to this podcast. I say that because you're not in prison. You haven't had your freedoms taken away from you. You're not living in a war-torn country you can't escape.

You're not a slave who has been traded to a master.

If you have your health, you have so much abundance. There is so much that you can still do. There's so much that you can go out and attain and goals that you can reach because you have your health.

Whenever I get stuck in a situation where I think I don't have enough.

I always come back to the fact that I'm healthy. I have a sound mind, and I can create the world I want.

Number Two: Practice gratitude.

For me, gratitude is super important. It was something that I learned when I was in kindergarten. I grew up in a very poverty-stricken community.  I went to a kindergarten where most of the kids came to kindergarten with snotty noses, bruises on their bodies, and hunger.

The kindergarten used to give two meals a day to these kids or us. I was one of those children. For some of those kids, it would be the only meal they would eat that day.

I think my gratitude was something that was born from that experience in my life. So I'm always very grateful for what I have today.

The great thing is gratitude is something that you can practice anytime. It's like playing your favorite song.

You just need to close your eyes and think about everything you have.

You've got a roof you've made, you've got food in your stomach, and you've got friends that care and love you.

I find an excellent way to practice gratitude is to focus or, even better, write down your thoughts of gratitude in the journal every day. Gratitude develops a habit of knowing what is good in your life.

It helps you not to focus on what you don't have.

There is a saying that Oprah Winfrey once said, “if you look at what you have in your life, you will always have more. But, if you look at what you don't have in your life, You will never have enough.

Number Three: be aware of ultimate possibilities.

Ultimate possibility is the core of my being and my belief system. Believing in the possible opened the opportunity to live in five countries across three continents - to live the life I live today.

With a mindset rooted in possibilities, you are always open to any way abundance can manifest in your life. So don't get caught thinking that there's only one way for you to make money or one way for you to achieve your goals or your dreams.

Loosen your focus. And you'll be surprised at how many paths they are to get to your end goal.

Number Four: Share your gifts.

Everybody always says to concentrate on your weaknesses to improve them. I say that's absolute bullshit. I say,  concentrate on your strengths because your strengths are your gifts.

Confidently sharing your gifts and talents promotes a sense of self-worth. When you're feeling good about yourself, you open yourself up to more good things coming to you.

“No one else can do the things you can do, the way you do it.”

The world is waiting for you to share your gifts and talents and reward you for them.

Number Five: Watch what you say.

This is a big one. We must also be aware of our words. If you are complaining about not having money, et cetera, you will continue not to have money.

I know that sounds kindly intuitive, but it is true. I've seen this happen over and over and over to people around me. The language that we use shapes our reality.  Just stop when you catch yourself saying things from a scarcity mindset perspective. And then turn those words into stories of possibility.

It'll change your mindset in just over a few weeks.

Number Six: Have bigger than life goals.

With its possible mindset, you open yourself up to unlimited possibilities. With unlimited possibilities, why not think big, think bigger, write down all your goals and dreams and make them larger than life?

Your life might end up being much larger than you think it could be. Mine certainly did. Get a good journal to help you keep track of it.

Number Seven: Plan for the future.

People with a scarcity mindset wait for things to happen or constantly react to their environment. As a result, their dreams and goals never work out for them.

Don't wait for things to happen; plan your future and start early, start today.

Always start with your end goal in mind when planning for the future. When you start with your end goal, you start putting the little micro goals in place. These small micro goals will get you to your macro goal in the end.

Number Eight: Creating abundance affirmations.

So I'm a big believer in creating affirmations. I'm a big believer in the power of affirmations and just saying them out loud regularly keeps you on track towards that goal. Positive words support what you want in your life.

It doesn't matter if you're repeating the same affirmations over and over and over, repetition is good. It also helps confirm and cement that message in your subconscious mind, and your subconscious mind is what creates your future.

Number Nine: Develop new skills.

People who believe in the possibility of life also have a mindset of continual learning.

When you develop new skills, you are opening yourself up to more possibilities. So find a course to enhance the skills that you currently have, or lean in on a hobby that you love and see if it can lead you to a new source of income.

Many times it does. My hobbies were writing, designing, and producing new products. It opened up an entirely new stream of revenue for me.

Number Ten: Challenge your beliefs.

This one is important. If you have limiting beliefs, you also limit your options and opportunities. For example, if you grew up thinking that money is scarce and you will never have enough, you need to change that and turn that into something positive. Instead, try saying, “there is plenty of money for everyone, and I have all I need.”

Changing your limiting beliefs are fundamental to achieving your goals. So be aware of your limiting beliefs and ensure they are not keeping you from your best life.

So thank you for sharing your time with me today. I'm Ricardo, and I look forward to having you join us on another podcast. My objective with this podcast is to share my own life experiences to inspire others. It all starts with a shift in mindset and taking action.
